Improving Outcomes for Children: The Importance of Child Abuse Prevention

Breakout Description:

Research has proven that Adverse Childhood Experiences, including child abuse, affect the health and well-being of our society and increase the risk of suicide, substance abuse and mental and physical health issues.  This interactive session will review the ACES study and the research underlying child abuse prevention education, briefly discuss HB 286 that mandates training and will also provide an overview of Prevent Child Abuse Utah's free prevention education for students, school personnel and parents.  A discussion will also be held on how Prevent Child Abuse Utah's curriculum links to the new Utah Health Core Standards.
